Woods Road Fifth Grader Named Essay Contest Winner
Audrey Giammarinaro, a fifth grade student at Woods Road Elementary School, recently earned second place in the America’s Field Trip Contest, one of America250’s signature education programs.
The nationwide contest invited students in grades 3-12 from across the country to reflect on the prompt “What does America mean to you?” through original writing or artwork. With more than 10,000 submissions, only 125 students were selected as first-place winners and 125 students were recognized as second-place winners.
Giammarinaro’s award-winning essay stood out for its thoughtful reflection on America’s history, values and the importance of community. Her writing demonstrated a deep appreciation for the freedoms and opportunities that shape the nation, while highlighting the importance of kindness, respect and understanding.
