Stage Crew Advisor Responsibilities include: A stage crew or set building director is primarily responsible for overseeing the construction, assembly, and maintenance of the physical set for a theatrical production, including coordinating the carpentry, painting, and technical aspects of building the scenery, ensuring it aligns with the design vision, and managing the crew members involved in the set building process. Key responsibilities include: Interpreting design plans, Working closely with the Director to understand and translate their set designs into practical construction plans, Managing the build crew, Assigning tasks to carpenters, painters, and other crew members based on their skills and the set requirements, Overseeing construction: Supervising the building of set pieces, including walls, platforms, furniture, and props, ensuring they are structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing, Coordinating materials, Ordering and managing the necessary materials like wood, paint, hardware, and other construction supplies, Quality control: Inspecting the set during construction to maintain high standards, safety and address any potential issues, Paint coordination, Working with the paint crew to ensure accurate color schemes and finishes on the set pieces. Technical considerations: Integrating technical elements like rigging points, fly systems, and stage mechanisms into the set design. Rehearsal support: Assisting with set adjustments during rehearsals based on director feedback. Strike and storage: Disassembling the set after the production run and properly storing set pieces for future use.
Qualifications: Background in theater and prior directing experience preferred. New York State Education Department (NYSED) mandates background checks and fingerprint clearance. Workshops on topics such as child abuse identification and school violence prevention may be required prior to employment.

Director’s Responsibilities include:
Conducting rehearsals, guiding actors in character development, blocking scenes, and ensuring proper delivery of lines and stage movement. Working with Musical Director and Choreographer on all aspects of stage activity.Overseeing technical rehearsals to integrate lighting, sound, set changes, and other technical elements into the performance. Working with the Technical Director on all aspects of lighting and sound.Providing feedback to actors during the rehearsal process, addressing issues that arise, and ensuring the quality of the final performance.Fostering a positive and inclusive environment for students involved in the production, providing guidance and support to actors and crew membersWorking within the allocated budget for the production, making informed decisions regarding set, costume, and other expenses. Working with Stage Crew Advisor on all aspects of construction and props.Maintaining open communication with the school administration, parents, other teachers, and the production team to ensure smooth operation.Adhering to school policies regarding student eligibility, safety protocols, and appropriate content for performances.Collaborating with design teams (set, costume, lighting), managing the production schedule, and ensuring a cohesive performance by unifying all elements of the show, from acting to technical aspects, while adhering to school guidelines and student needs.
