Young Learners Explore Ways to Protect the Planet
On April 22, students at Marion G. Vedder Elementary School marked Earth Day with engaging, hands-on activities that highlighted the importance of caring for our planet.
Prekindergarten students rotated through interactive stations where they explored simple, everyday ways to help the Earth, like turning off the water and lights. They also got creative by upcycling scrap paper to build paper bugs and painting the Earth using Q-tips.
At another station, students used spoons to remove “pollution” from a tub of water, learning about the importance of keeping our environment clean.
The learning continued in the library, where classes focused on Earth-themed books and best practices for protecting our planet. A special bulletin board was made entirely from recycled materials was also created for students to enjoy. From creativity to conservation, North Babylon students are learning that even small actions can make a big difference.
