March Madness: Music Edition
Throughout March, elementary students in Ms. Medeiros’ classes at Willim E. DeLuca Elementary School participated in a fun and engaging “March Madness: Genre Edition” during their music classes, giving them the opportunity to explore a wide variety of musical styles through friendly competition.
Each week, students listened to clips from different genres of music and voted for their favorites, narrowing down the bracket as the month progressed. From jazz and classical to hip-hop and rock ‘n’ roll, students were exposed to a diverse range of musical genres, broadening their understanding and appreciation of music.
As the competition intensified, the final round came down to pop and EDM. After careful listening and enthusiastic participation, pop was ultimately crowned the winner.
This interactive activity not only encouraged student engagement but also helped develop listening skills and introduced students to new musical styles they may not have experienced before. Through this creative approach, students gained a deeper appreciation for the diversity of music while enjoying a bit of March Madness excitement in the classroom.
