RMMS Club Hosts Hands-On Entrepreneurship Experience

Mrs. Lopes’ Family and Consumer Science Club at Robert Moses Middle School recently hosted an engaging, hands-on learning event featuring The Island Coffee Grind, a local coffee truck business.
During the visit, students had the unique opportunity to go “behind the scenes” of the mobile food service industry. The owner, Sara, shared valuable insights about running a small business, including menu design, daily operations and the logistics involved in managing a mobile business.
The interactive experience allowed students to see real-world entrepreneurship in action while asking questions and learning directly from a local business owner. To enhance the event, students also enjoyed a warm cup of hot cocoa as they explored the truck and engaged in conversation.
The visit provided a meaningful connection between classroom learning and real-world application, while also strengthening ties between the school and the local community.
