Eighth Graders Gain Insight During High School Transition Assembly
On Feb. 12, eighth grade students at Robert Moses Middle School participated in a special assembly alongside juniors and seniors from North Babylon High School titled “What I Wish I Knew About High School.” The interactive session was designed to help ease students’ transition from middle school to high school by hearing directly from their peers.
During the assembly, high school students shared personal experiences and practical advice on a wide range of topics, including academics, workload, extracurricular activities, sports, clubs and electives. The panel provided honest insights into what students can expect in high school and offered helpful tips on managing responsibilities, staying organized and getting involved.
The event created an open and supportive environment where eighth graders were encouraged to ask questions and learn from students who had recently gone through the same transition. By hearing real-life perspectives, they gained a clearer understanding of high school expectations and felt more confident about the next step in their academic journey. The assembly served as a valuable opportunity for students to connect across grade levels and foster a sense of community, helping to ensure a smoother and more positive transition into high school.
