RMMS Reading Buddies Club Builds Love of Literacy

Posted Date: 12/08/25 (12:00 AM)

Reading Buddies, an after-school club at Robert Moses Middle School, brings middle school and elementary students together through the joy of reading. Once a month, middle school participants visit William E. DeLuca Elementary School to read aloud to their “little buddies.” Ahead of each visit, students carefully select a book and practice reading it fluently to prepare for their time with the younger readers.
The program provides valuable opportunities for middle schoolers to strengthen their confidence, build reading fluency and develop leadership skills as they form meaningful connections with their buddies. Elementary students benefit as well, enjoying the chance to listen to fluent reading, engage with older role models and deepen their love of books.
This month, the Reading Buddies visited Mrs. Rebholz’s kindergarten class and continued to foster a shared love of reading for students of all ages.
