Dual Language Students Celebrate Hispanic heritage

Posted Date: 10/24/25 (:00 AM)

Dual language students at Parliament Place Elementary School hosted a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Oct. 16, bringing together families, students and staff to honor the rich history and cultural contributions of Hispanic communities.

A classroom at Parliament Place was transformed into an interactive learning space as students showcased their research on famous Hispanic figures, including artists, athletes, writers, scientists, political leaders and cultural icons.

During the daytime celebration, students took part in a museum walk, browsing displays that featured: research posters and biography projects, cultural artifacts and symbolic items, student-created artwork and traditional Hispanic foods for tasting.

Afterschool, families were invited to join the celebration, adding to the sense of community and connection that is part of the district’s bilingual education initiatives. Students proudly shared their work and engaged visitors in conversations about the achievements and impact of the individuals they studied.
