Joined by family, friends, administrators, Board of Education members and coaches, North Babylon School District recognized 11 outstanding winter student-athletes at the April 22 Board of Education meeting.
From the boys wrestling team, the following athletes were honored: Adriano Ochoa (All-County), RJ DeJesus (All-County), Peter Banculli (All-County), Jack Rowland (All-County, New York State Qualifier) and Xavier Seabury (All-County, New York State Qualifier and New York All-State, finishing third). Girls wrestler Melania Turano was also honored as the first All-County female wrestler in North Babylon history.
Boys basketball player Kameron Quinn was honored for his All-County recognition, and girls winter track athlete Kamille Black was also recognized for her All-County honors and for qualifying for New York State in the triple jump. Boys winter track athlete Jordan Peck was recognized for All-County, Suffolk County Most Valuable Player, New York State Qualifier, New York All-State and for finishing third in the 55m hurdles.
Girls winter track athlete Shavannah Richards was honored for All-County, New York State Qualifier, New York All-State and New York State champion for intersectional relay. Girls basketball player Jasmine McKay was named League III Player of the Year, All-County, Suffolk County Player of the New Year and Newsday First Team All Long Island. She finished her career in North Babylon with 1,748 points.
