Best Community for Music Education

The District has been named Best Community for Music Education by the National
Association of Music Merchants Foundation for 2022. This is the 17th time North Babylon
received this prestigious distinction.
In its 23rd year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded
to districts that demonstrate outstanding efforts to ensure that all students are offered
exceptional music education in their curriculum. To qualify for this designation, North
Babylon answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class
participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community
music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by
The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
"We are so amazed by our creative students and teachers, who kept making music in
all circumstances throughout the past two years,” District Director of Art and Music
Programs Kim Lowenborg-Coyne said. “This spring will bring us a return to live concerts in
a brand new, state-of-the-art auditorium at our High School and we can't wait to all be
together again, making beautiful music.”
