Dear North Babylon Parents/Guardians,
Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who reached out to me last night and today regarding the mask mandate continuation in the North Babylon School District. Late this afternoon, the Appellate Court Second Division instituted a “stay” for wearing masks in school. This decision is in line with the decision made last night to keep the mandate in place for North Babylon based on the New York State Education Department informing Superintendents that masks were still required to be worn and advice from our district’s legal counsel. Based on the order of the Second Department, school districts in New York State are required to continue to comply with the mask mandates outlined in 10 NYCRR § 2.60 and the Commissioner’s determination on indoor masking pursuant to such regulation.
