North Babylon Students Receive High Praise During Board of Education Meeting

The North Babylon Union Free School District had a lot to celebrate during the Dec.
16 Board meeting, as members of the Board of Education and Administrators
acknowledged the accomplishments of several students. Town of Babylon Councilman
DuWayne Gregory also attended to recognize these students as well.
Superintendent of Schools Glen Eschbach kicked off the recognitions by honoring
North Babylon High School senior Paul Coppola for his performance on the College Board’s
Advance Placement 2-D Art and Design Exam. Paul received the top score of five and was
also one of only 152 students in the world to earn every point on the AP 2-D Art and Design
Exam. This prompted him to receive the maximum score on each portion of the exam.
Superintendent Eschbach went on to honor North Babylon High School junior
Savannah Rogers for being named “Suffolk County Large Schools Goalkeeper of the Year”
by the Suffolk County Girls Soccer Coaches Association. Savannah is the first goalkeeper
from North Babylon to receive this award.
North Babylon High School senior Michael Fuentes was also honored by
Superintendent Eschbach, as he is the district’s first QuestBridge Scholar in North Babylon
history. Michael has been matched with University of Pennsylvania and will receive a full
scholarship for the cost of attendance at UPenn for four years. The scholarship is worth
approximately $300,000 and will cover costs including tuition, room and board, books and
supplies and travel expenses.
The District applauds these students on their tremendous accomplishments and
wishes them best of luck in future endeavors.
