On March 20, third graders from across the district visited North Babylon High School to get a taste of the different musical opportunities offered to them next year. They listened to performances from the high school orchestra, band and chorus. The ensembles demonstrated different techniques to the elementary students and sampled the sounds made by each instrument.

Third graders and their families were then invited back for an evening “Instrument Petting Zoo” at North Babylon High School. During the event, students and parents returned for a second short introduction and then entered the zoo, where they were able to listen and play all the instruments of the band and orchestra. High school students became teachers to help the younger students make their first sounds.
