English as a New Language teachers Nick Pei from Parliament Place Elementary School, Jillian DeLetto from Woods Road Elementary School and Meredith Johnson from Marion G. Vedder presented at the Long Island Teachers’ Institute at the Melville Marriott. More than 450 educators were in attendance. This year’s theme was “Equity for ELLs: Elevating Language and Learning.” Mr. Pei’s presentation was titled “Writer’s Block! Giving ELLs Strategies for Building Sentences.” Ms. DeLetto and Ms. Johnson facilitated a panel discussion called “Ask Me Anything: ENL Edition.”
