Costume Club

The North Babylon theater club partners with many other clubs to put on successful performances; one is the costume club. Students in the costume club and advisor Mrs. Noll begin preparing for the shows as soon as they are announced. Students learn many aspects of the costume industry through hands-on experiences.

Before they meet the cast, the club has costume design meetings, research characters, design costumes, and source garments that are not available in the district’s inventory. Club members then do fittings with the crew to make alterations to the costumes they’ve designed.
As the show draws near, the costume crew organizes the costumes by characters and in order of appearance. Then the cast has a costume parade where the costume crew takes notes to make last minute adjustments and alterations.

For their last show, there had to be a special dress engineered for a quick change on stage! In talking about this experience, Joél Maestre stated “Although this dress was unlike any other garment I’ve constructed before, I took it as a learning experience and enjoyed every second of it."

Come see the amazing work of our students both on stage and off. “Mean Girls” will be presented on March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. in the North Babylon High School auditorium. Tickets available here.
