The district has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2023. Spiros Manolas has been named the valedictorian and Gia Licata will be salutatorian.
Spiros has a weighted average of almost 105. He is president/captain of the Quiz Bowl team, where he has also garnered numerous awards over the years. Spiros is also a member of the Environmental Civics Action Club, National Honor Society, National Foreign Language Honor Society and Science Honor Society. He also participates on the Mathletes Team, Student Equity Team and Students for a Better World. He will graduate with a Regents diploma with Honors, Mastery in Math and Mastery in Science. He will be attending SUNY Stony Brook and majoring in applied mathematics and computer science.
An Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, Gia will also graduate with a Regents diploma with Honors, Mastery in Math and Mastery in Science. She has been the captain of the high school varsity gymnastics team for the past three years. During her years on this team, she has been awarded All League every year, All County for one year, and has been a Scholar Athlete for the past five years. Gia is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society), National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society Captain’s Club and Renaissance Club. She has also earned the Seal of Biliteracy. Gia is undecided on her college choice but will be majoring in nursing.
