North Babylon School District’s social-emotional learning liaison Kate Finnick has been chosen as a mindfulness director for WholeSchool Mindfulness. Ms. Finnick will be working collaboratively with WholeSchool Mindfulness and the school district in the 2023-2024 academic year.

“We're thrilled to invite Ms. Finnick to become an integral member of a cohort of mindfulness directors who will offer their unique perspectives, deepen their expertise, and enhance their skill set as they continue their commitment to advancing mindfulness and justice in their school communities,” said Selena La’Chelle Collazo, mindfulness director outreach, recruitment and selection, WholeSchool Mindfulness.

WholeSchool Mindfulness offers a partnership to the school community where they help fund the position and provide support for their work at teaching mindfulness to the students, staff and school community. Since 2019, they have given this position to only 15 people across the U.S.

Ms. Finnick holds a Doctor of Naturopathy, a Master of Science degree in clinical counseling and is a certified Reiki and meditation instructor. She has worked for the North Babylon School District for the past for 23 years, serving as a guidance counselor at Robert Moses Middle School for 20 years and as the district SEL liaison – supporting students, staff and the parent community – for the past three years.
