Covid Updates

September 23, 2020

Dear North Babylon Families,

Late yesterday afternoon The North Babylon Union Free School District was notified that two
additional night time employees assigned to the high school, who have not had contact with students, have tested positive for COVID-19. These staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed to return to work for at least 10 days, symptom free for 24 hours, and have a negative COVID-19 Test.

Following guidance issued by the New York State Education Department and Suffolk County
Department of Health, the space utilized by these employees has been thoroughly cleaned
and disinfected.

We are in constant contact with the Suffolk County Department of Health and will follow all
necessary protocols to mitigate any exposure to anyone who may have been in contact with these staff members. People deemed to have been in close contact with the staff members will be notified directly by the Department of Health and will have to begin mandatory, two week quarantine. Anyone not contacted can assume they were not determined to be in close contact with the staff members, meaning they were not within 6 feet of the person for at least 15 minutes starting from two days before the onset of the illness (or, if asymptomatic patients, two days prior to positive test).

As a reminder, the symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to the regular seasonal influenza and include fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. Some have reported additional symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat, nausea, lethargy, lack of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea.

If any student or employee begins to display any of these symptoms, please contact a
medical provider.

Again, the health and safety of our students, staff, and faculty are of the utmost importance.
We thank you for the partnership.

Sincerely,

Glen A. Eschbach
Superintendent
