June 2023

Dear Parent/Guardian:

In the Spring of 2023, school counselors met with students individually, and students selected their courses for the 2023-2024 school year.  At that meeting, your child was provided with a copy of their requests, and we subsequently posted a copy of these requests to the eSchooldata Student Portal.  Your child’s schedule was based on these requests, teacher recommendations, availability of courses, and the number of sections for each course. Please go on the eSchooldata and review your child’s preliminary 2023-2024 schedule and review the classes to which your child has been enrolled.  Please note this preliminary schedule will be available for viewing only until July 10th at which time we will close the portal while we make adjustments. Final schedules will be available August 30th on the eSchooldata parent portal.

Please keep in mind that it may be necessary to make adjustments based on final grades, Regents examination scores, balancing of class sizes, and summer school grades.  If changes are made, these revisions will be reflected on the Student and Parent Portals before school begins. The assigned teachers, classrooms, periods and school counselor will appear on your child’s final 2023-2024 schedule that will be posted to the parent and student portals before school begins.

If you wish to initiate schedule changes, please know that school counselors may only change your child’s schedule if:

  • is incomplete (e.g., missing a period)

  • contains a course that he/she already passed

  • is missing a course needed for graduation (and the course must be taken this coming school year)

  • lists the same course twice (keep in mind some courses are double or 1 ½ periods)

  • includes the incorrect course (e.g., scheduled for Global 10R instead of Global 9R)

If you believe that your child’s schedule contains an error, we begin looking at the below email starting  on July 5th:

hssummerguidance@northbabylonschools.net

School counselors will begin to address the summer guidance email correcting any of the above issues and balancing courses to ensure that they will run smoothly for the start of the year.  Our school counselors will be available periodically throughout the summer to address any concerns that meet the above requirements only that are sent to the summer guidance email.  Please note that the counselors are not working everyday during the summer.  We will not be adjusting schedules based on a preference for lunch, change of teacher, or change of requested electives.

On behalf of the members of the guidance department, I would like to wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

Mr. Stephen Dombo                          Dr. Jonathan Klomp

Director of Guidance K-12             High School Principal
