Covid News

November 9, 2020

Dear Belmont Elementary School Families,

The North Babylon Union Free School District was notified this morning that a student at Belmont Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff and students who this has impacted have been notified by the building Principal or school nurse. Although
students have been wearing masks and maintaining 6 foot social distancing, out of an abundance of caution, we are mandating any staff or student who has had contact with the student to be placed on quarantine. If you have not been contacted by the nurse or the Personnel Department that means your child has not been identified to have been in contact with this student at school.

We are in constant contact with the Suffolk County Department of Health and will continue to follow all necessary protocols and guidance given to us to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.

As a reminder, the symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to the regular seasonal influenza and include fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. Some people have reported additional symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat, nausea, lethargy, lack of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. If any student or employee begins to display any of these symptoms, please contact a medical provider.

Again, the health and safety of our students, staff, and faculty are of the utmost importance.
We thank you for the partnership.
Sincerely,

Glen A. Eschbach
Superintendent
