Dr. Joseph Centamore Joins North Babylon Administrative Team
Dr. Joseph Centamore has joined the North Babylon School District as interim assistant superintendent for human resources and educational operations, bringing more than 25 years of educational leadership experience and a career spanning classroom instruction, school administration and district leadership.
“I am so excited to be joining the North Babylon administrative team and look forward to working collaboratively with the staff on behalf of our students and families,” Centamore said. “The community has such a rich history and tradition. It is truly an honor to now become a member of the Bulldog family!”
Centamore’s career includes serving as a social studies teacher in Deer Park and a middle school assistant principal in Elwood. In Rocky Point, he served as the first principal of the district’s newly constructed middle school.
His personnel administration experience includes serving as assistant director of human resources at Nassau BOCES. He also spent 12 years in South Huntington as an assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent, including five years as assistant superintendent for personnel and district services. His responsibilities there extended into the curriculum and business offices, as well as oversight of the arts.
“Dr. Centamore brings extensive experience across every level of public education, along with a strong commitment to supporting students, families and staff,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham said. “His knowledge of personnel, curriculum, operations and district leadership will be a tremendous asset to North Babylon. We are pleased to welcome him to our administrative team and the Bulldog family.”
Before joining North Babylon, Centamore served as superintendent of the Connetquot Central School District. Together, these roles have given him experience with the instructional, staffing and operational responsibilities that support schools and their communities.
Centamore holds a doctorate in educational administration, leadership and technology. He has also served as an adjunct instructor in Stony Brook University’s Educational Leadership program, bringing his professional experience into the preparation of future school administrators.
Outside of his work in education, Centamore enjoys traveling with his family, theater and the arts, and athletics. As he begins his new role, he looks forward to building relationships with North Babylon’s staff, students and families.
