Welcome to North Babylon School District

Dear North Babylon Staff,

I hope you are enjoying a restful summer. The District has been working hard to ensure
everything is ready for you and your students to return.

This summer has brought with it a change in administration that I am excited to share with
you. Following the resignation of Mr. Eschbach, the Board of Education made the decision to
take our time and gather community and staff input prior to appointing our next permanent
school leader. With that established, the Board decided it was in the best interest of our
District to appoint an Interim Superintendent while we perform an extensive search. During
our Aug. 10 meeting, the Board appointed veteran educator Dr. Laurence Aronstein to serve
as the District’s Interim Superintendent, effective Aug. 18, 2022.

With a career in public education spanning more than 45 years, Dr. Aronstein has spent the
past decade sharing his knowledge with aspiring leaders and teachers as the founder of
Educational Performance Consultants. Prior to his retirement from public education, Dr.
Aronstein served as Superintendent of Schools of the Glen Cove City School District and
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and instruction in the Copiague Public Schools. Dr.
Aronstein has worked at all levels of public education throughout his career, starting as a
science teacher, and then working as a principal at the elementary, middle school and high
school levels before entering central administration. He currently serves as an adjunct
professor at New York Institute of Technology, a position he has held since 2004. Dr.
Aronstein is also an accomplished author. He’s published multiple education-focused articles
and is the author of the book “Getting Your School Leadership Job."

We are excited to welcome an educator with such a distinguished career and proven track
record as Dr. Aronstein to our District. His experience, knowledge and insight will provide
our district with the expertise and leadership abilities necessary to continue our
commitment to a high-quality education for all students.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Aronstein as our Interim Superintendent. We would also like
to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Eschbach for his years of service to our School
Community. We wish him well in the next chapter of his life.

Please enjoy the remaining weeks of your summer. We look forward to welcoming you back
at Superintendent’s Conference Day on Aug. 30.

Warm Regards,
Matthew Lucchetti, President
North Babylon UFSD Board of Education
