North Babylon High School announces valedictorian and salutatorian

North Babylon High School is proud to announce Autumn Cullinan as valedictorian and Laci Burton as salutatorian for the Class of 2021.

Cullinan is a well-rounded student involved in many extracurricular activities. Throughout her time at North Babylon High School, she has pursued her passions, specifically in the arts. Cullinan was an active violin player in the school Orchestra and at NYSSMA performances. She participated in the Drama Club musicals and took part in jazz dance lessons. Cullinan developed her leadership skills as the secretary of the National Foreign Language Honor Society, as a Student Equity Team member and a member of the Junior Varsity Tennis team. She also serves the greater community as a mentor at BigBrothers Big Sisters and as a volunteer at Tender Loving Cats, a local feline rescue.

Throughout high school, Cullinan took 11 Advanced Placement classes. APChemistry was one of the most notable, as it inspired Cullinan to purse a biochemistry major at Vassar College, where she will attend in the fall. She hopes to use her degree to make a positive impact on the world and solve environmental issues. Ultimately, Cullinan would like to receive her doctorate and work in research.

Burton is an active member of the North Babylon High School community. Her excellence in academics led to her involvement in the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Foreign Language Honor Society and Science Honor Society. One of her most noteworthy experiences in extracurriculars was being named President of the Student for a Better World Club. Burton has also dedicated her time to Girl Scouts and the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. Additionally, she participated in competitive dance and helped others as a dance student-teacher.

Burton has taken nine AP courses throughout high school. AP Chemistry was one of the most memorable, as it challenged her and led to a sense of accomplishment. In the fall, Burton plans to attend Stony Brook University and major in English. She aspires to be an
English teacher.

The District congratulates Cullinan and Burton and wishes them the best of luck in
the future!
