North Babylon schools celebrate P.S. I Love you Day

On Feb.12, students across the North Babylon School District celebrated P.S. I Love You Day with the theme “Together We Will Rise.”

While this day looked different this year due to COVID-19 precautions, it did not
disappoint. P.S. I love you Day founders, Brooke and Jaime DiPalma—with help from
Joanne Williams and the North Babylon Lions Club—made the necessary adjustments
needed in order to continue to spread their positive message of love and acceptance.
All of the district’s buildings were registered as P.S. I Love You Day participant
schools and received videos and resources to use throughout the week. Elementary school
students discussed the importance of kindness and how small gestures can often make a
large impact, whereas middle and high school students examined how physical fitness can
positively impact mental health.
Additionally, throughout the schools, students, faculty and staff were encouraged to
wear purple as a way to connect with their fellow classmates and colleagues in support of
P.S. I Love You Day.
“This year due to COVID-19, nothing is normal and it’s harder than ever to feel
connected to one another,” North Babylon High School Principal Jonathan Klomp said. “Let
the purple remind us of our best selves and how we can support one another to emphasize
the message of hope that no one is alone and we are all connected.”
