Inductees receiving their award on stage

More than 100 students from North Babylon High School were inducted into the World Language, Science and Math honor societies during a ceremony in the school’s auditorium on May 2. Joined by administrators, board of education members, family and friends, the students celebrated their academic accomplishments in the respective subject areas.

North Babylon High School Principal Dr. Jonathan Klomp welcomed attendees alongside the honor societies’ advisers and directors of the ENL and World Languages, math and science departments. “We gather here for the initiation of a group of students who show strong interest in Italian, Spanish, math and sciences,” he said. “Today we will be inducting 109 students in total.”

North Babylon School District’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham congratulated this year’s inductees into the honor society chapters. “The students being inducted this evening have taken advantage of the opportunities offered to them at North Babylon every step of the way,” he said. “They have successfully participated in challenging coursework, extracurricular and cocurricular activities and they have organized community service and outreach events – all while representing our district as outstanding citizens.” After the students described some of the many reasons they selected their area of study, each inductee was called to the stage to receive their certificate and congratulations. The students recited the honor society pledge in unison before being named official members.
