In the spirit of collaboration and in an effort to share common practices, teachers in the North Babylon School District hosted elementary teachers and administrators from West Babylon School District to discuss the new state curriculum modules, which are lessons put out by New York State that align with the Common Core Learning Standards. The goal of the visit was for the North Babylon teachers, who began using the modules in October 2012, to support the West Babylon teachers with their implementation of the new modules, offer tips and strategies, and answer any questions the visitors may have.
“Our teachers have really embraced the curriculum format, taking the initiative to go above and beyond,” said North Babylon Superintendent of Schools Patricia Godek when she visited North Babylon’s Belmont Elementary School.
