Parliament Place Elementary School fifth grade students in Ms. Staci Manning‘s class presented their Google slideshow, “The Importance of Reducing Single-Use Plastics,” to Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilmen Terence McSweeney and Tony Martinez, Director of the Town of Babylon Beautification Program Viscel Moore, North Babylon Superintendent Glen Eschbach, and Assistant Superintendent Kim Skillen.

Last month, they asked the Town of Babylon to donate recycling pails for every classroom and in two weeks’ time, they collected more than 1,600 water bottles. At the assembly, the students asked if they would donate those same pails to all the North Babylon schools and they agreed to do so.

All students were presented a certificate of appreciation from the Town of Babylon for their hard work and dedication to this very important cause. Town representatives also invited the students to attend the town’s Earth Day Celebration at Town Hall in the spring.
