It was a night of celebration at the District’s Board of Education meeting, as members of the board recognized a local hero and awarded two staff members with certificates of tenure.

Security guard Lawrence Knappe was commended for his acts of heroism that saved a man’s life in a house fire on Oct. 23. Town of Babylon Councilman Terence McSweeney was also in attendance at the meeting and presented Knappe with a certificate of appreciation for his quick actions that day.

The district was also proud to present special education teacher Christine Long and Assistant to District Administrator for Special Education Alyssa Imhof with certificates of tenure for exhibiting hard work and dedication in their positions.
