Parliament Place highlighted the arts and the multicultural diversity through literature for the school’s International Children’s Book Day celebration. For the celebration, teachers had guest readers read trade books on each grade level that represent many different ethnicities.

In Ms. Montuori’s class, Town of Babylon Councilman Terence McSweeney visited students and read “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” by Hans Christian Andersen. After that, Ms. Montuori’s students rehearsed a performance for Councilman McSweeney, which they later performed for other students in the building. The performance consisted of students singing songs and reciting poems that reflected the theme of the day.
