William E. DeLuca Jr, Elementary School is proud to announce this year’s recipient of the ‘Be Victorious Award.’  This award goes to a student who has displayed impeccable character as well as integrity.  They are a student who has shown they can overcome obstacles.  This award was created in memory of Mrs. Vega who passed away in 2015 and was a very important social worker in our school.

This year's recipient is Lucas Milek from Mrs. Stone's class. Lucas comes to school with a smile on his face and determination in his heart. Everyday Lucas overcomes physical difficulties that impact his ability to navigate the school. These obstacles would certainly frustrate most students, but not Lucas. He is always ready to work hard and learn new things. Lucas is an example of tireless perseverance. He is brave, empathetic, strong, and kind. Lucas doesn't follow the crowd, but walks to the beat of his own drum.

We are so very proud of Lucas and all he has accomplished. Lucas' name has been engraved on the 'Be Victorious' plaque which is hung in the lobby of the school. He also received a very special award during the 5th grade moving-up ceremony. We were fortunate enough to have Mrs. Vega's family in attendance during this occasion.
