RMMS student Mia Bacchi visited her alma mater Belmont Avenue to discuss her remarkable artistic accomplishments and the district’s art gallery that she is featured in as a result of earning the 2017 Director’s Award.

Bacchi, an eighth-grade standout artist, has won multiple awards for her work from the Long Island Fair at Bethpage and The Festival of the Arts, including Best in Show for 2017, and most recently was honored with the privilege of designing this year’s yearbook. She has completed murals for the Town of Oyster Bay Cedar Beach marina, J.E. Allen Jr./Sr. High School, and her middle school, and currently works on set design for the middle- and high-school Youth Center Drama Clubs.

During her visit, Bacchi shared her experiences, offered tips and encouraged students to continue working diligently toward their dreams. She works mostly in digital programs, clay and alcohol markers, but her preference is a #2 pencil. This summer, she will be teaching “How to Draw Mythological Creatures” at the Youth Center, and in the future plans to pursue a career in concept art.
