William E. DeLuca Jr, Elementary School along with the entire North Babylon community is mourning the loss of their dear friend and colleague Ms. Jennifer Ferer, who passed away on May 4, 2017.

Ms. Ferer began her teaching career in North Babylon in September 1996. For the past 15 years, she was the AIS Math teacher at William E. DeLuca, Jr. Elementary School.  Ms. Ferer worked tirelessly to guide and support many of the students in the community.  One of her favorite causes was raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital for cancer research. In addition to her responsibilities within the classroom, Ms. Ferer worked to help run the computer lab, judge the poetry contest and the Spelling Bee, as well as write curriculum over the summer.

Ms. Ferer was always on-hand to help her fellow colleagues. She often solved various computer problems and shared her knowledge of cutting edge math websites. She participated in turn key training for the district in which she shared her understanding of Google and participated in numerous collegial circles. She aided in the development of a Character Education Program and was instrumental in bringing Mentors Giving Voices Across North Babylon to DeLuca. As a mentor, she touched the lives of numerous students.

For many years, Mrs. Ferer represented the teachers of DeLuca as the building’s union representative.  During her over twenty year career in North Babylon Ms. Ferer organized, as well as oversaw, the annual ‘Holiday Extravaganza’, ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ and the DeLuca Q.  Ms. Ferer was our go-to person for just about everything.  Her compassion, generosity of self, and sincerity will be greatly missed.

Humble & Kind
Always so good, unselfish and kind.
Few on this earth her equal we find.
Honorable and upright in all her ways.
Loyal and true to the end of her days.
You are not forgotten, dear friend.
