Recognizing that heart disease is one of the top killers of men and women in America, the students at North Babylon’s Woods Road Elementary School wanted to do their part to help raise funds in the fight against this disease, as well as raise awareness of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

With the assistance of physical education teachers Mario Fiore and Bill Munro, the students participated in the nationally recognized Jump Rope for Heart program, an event that raises money to help the American Heart Association fund lifesaving research on heart disease and strokes. The American Heart Association also funds the development of educational materials that teach the importance of heart health and staying fit.
