RMMS eighth-grader Victoria Bonavita was honored at the district’s March Board of Education Meeting following her selection as New York’s top Middle Level Youth Volunteer in the 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.

With elected officials in attendance, Bonavita was presented with an engraved silver medallion by representatives of Prudential Financial, and commended for her outstanding work in animal education. As a result of the tremendous honor, she was also awarded $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. for a series of national recognition events on May 6-9.

At Washington D.C., Bonavita will be considered for a National Honoree title that would award her an additional $5,000, a gold medallion, a crystal trophy for Robert Moses Middle School and a $5,000 grant for the charity of her choice.
