As part of National Fire Safety Week, students at DeLuca and Parliament received a visit from the North Babylon Fire Department for an informative lesson on fire prevention, fire safety, and fire equipment.

Students in all grade levels had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities designed to make them aware of fire hazards and how firefighters work to protect them. In one activity, students were helped to escape from the window of a trailer that was set up as a room in a home. Students also watched videos and lectures, completed readings and handouts, and climbed into a fire truck to experience a firefighter’s true setting.

The purpose of the North Babylon Fire Department’s visits was to reinforce the principles of fire prevention and fire safety to students.
