Theatre students at the high school have been invited to perform monologues at the annual Stage the Change conference on Nov. 7.

Stage the Change, which features theatrical performances based on social action, will host the students at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post. As part of an assignment in Lisa Drance’s Theatre II class, the students wrote individual scripts in class based on the theme “Equality: A Possibility or a Dream?” Following rewrites, the students worked in groups and read each other’s work, ultimately choosing to submit student playwright Krista Schmitt’s one-act titled “Euphoria.” Schmitt worked with classmates Brianna Delacruz, Mackenzie Cosentino, Ivana Rahaman, Natalie Urban and Zara Zulquar.

The invitation to perform at the conference is a testament not only to the remarkable work of the students, but also to the quality of theatre education they are receiving.
