Belmont raised a grand total of $7,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society during its annual Pennies for Patients campaign, breaking its previous record of $5,000 established last year.

During the four-week program, students were encouraged to bring in contributions to fill hallway collection boxes, and they learned about the importance of donating for a worthy cause. Each week was uniquely themed and provided various incentives for students to contribute to the fundraiser. One of the most popular events during the program was the Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast, during which $1,959 was raised.

The check for $7,000 was presented to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at a culminating ceremony.
