Due to the retirement of Mrs. Patricia Godek, the North Babylon Board of Education has begun its search for its new Superintendent, voting at the October meeting to enlist the aid of Western Suffolk BOCES in the search process. Western Suffolk BOCES is experienced in this process, which will be led by Michael Flynn, Chief Operating Officer and Paula Klingelhoefer, Senior Executive Director.

Community and staff members are asked for their input through an online survey through March 30, 2015. Areas such as rating the importance of a potential candidate’s qualifications and personal characteristics, as well as his/her abilities and experience with school staffing, instruction, board relations, district operations and finance will be polled. The survey can be accessed by clicking on the link on the home page of the district’s web site  www.northbabylonschools.net or a copy can be picked up at the District Office or the Public Library.  Representatives from a variety of district stakeholder groups will also have an opportunity to meet the Search facilitators in April to provide additional input.

Recruitment efforts will be extensive, with interested candidates submitting application information through January. Interviews are expected to begin in March and continue through several rounds which will conclude no later than May.

The Board of Education will seriously consider the Community Survey results in their selection of the new Superintendent. A final decision by the Board will be announced at the June meeting.
