The Board of Education has authorized Superintendent of Schools Patricia Godek to analyze alternate configurations to the existing K-5 elementary school structure in order to equalize elementary class size across the district.

In light of the severe and ongoing fiscal constraints placed upon school districts across New York State, including North Babylon UFSD, the board feels obligated to explore all options that address this issue, including the option to consolidate schools.

The object of this study is to determine the extent to which reconfiguration and/or consolidation would or would not both equalize class sizes at the elementary level and generate potential financial savings to be considered during the 2015-16 budget planning process.

In order to make an informed decision, the board of education invites all community residents to participate in an anonymous survey which can be found here. The survey will be available from Nov. 24 through Dec. 5. Hard copies of the survey will be available at the district’s administration office at 5 Jardine Place, North Babylon, NY. Thank you for taking part in this important survey and for sharing your opinions with the board of education.
