With passports in hand, students from Parliament Place Elementary School traveled around the world and back – all in one evening! Organized by the site-based team, students and their families participated in the March Around the World event, with the cafeteria transformed into the seven continents.

During their adventure, the students learned fun facts about the different countries on each continent, played games, made crafts and enjoyed various native food choices. For their stop in Asia, students made Chinese lanterns. While visiting Europe, they enjoyed shortbread cookies and in Australia, they had their faces painted with Aboriginal designs. The trip around the world ended in Antarctica, where each participated was given an ice from Rita’s Water Ice.

“This event is about bringing the school community together for a nice evening of family fun,” said Principal Drew Olson. “But mostly, we want the students to leave with a deeper understanding of the world and its various cultures and communities.”
