The North Babylon School District is the recipient of a $2,000 grant from the Target Corporation for Arts, Culture and Design in Schools. According to the district’s director of art and music programs, Dr. Kim Lowenborg-Coyne, the funds will be used toward the cost of the annual District String Festival in which approximately 375 students in grades 4-12 participate each year. This year’s festival is scheduled for Jan. 13 and 14, with the culminating performance featuring artist-in-residence Mark Wood on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. in the North Babylon High School auditorium.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to bring a program into our district that enriches our current curriculum,” said Dr. Lowenborg-Coyne.
