Yesterday, Governor Cuomo announced a Statewide school closure through Tuesday, March 31st with a return date for all staff and students on Wednesday, April 1st extending our current closure.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18th, all school buildings will be open between the hours of 8am and 12 noon for parents, who have children that have medication in the nurse's office, to come in to pick up those medications. We ask all other parents to not come up to the school. There is no current need for anyone to worry about having a particular book or any other school item. It is important that we adhere to social distancing protocols and if everyone shows up to pick something up, we will not be able to manage that amount of people. Those parents who need to pick up medication proceed to the main entrance of the school building. The door will be locked, but there will be a security guard at the door. Have ID to show the guard and inform them of your child’s name and the medication you are there to pick up. The medication will be brought to you at the doorway. No parents or students will be allowed in the building.

For any student who may need access to technology during this time off beginning Thursday March 19th, the District will distribute Chromebooks to any student in kindergarten through 8th grade who does not have a device at home. Distribution will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm both Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th. Distribution will take place outside of the lobby at Robert Moses Middle School. Please queue up in the loop. We will distribute devices to you in your car. In order to get a District issued Chromebook the student, parent or legal guardian must be there for the pickup and must provide a photo ID. A photo will be taken of the back of the Chromebook along with your photo ID in order to help us keep track of what is being distributed and to whom. If you arrive and there is a long line of cars waiting, please be patient or come back at another time as we have plenty of devices for everyone.

As a reminder, our school breakfast and lunch program will begin on Thursday, March 19th and be available between 10am and 12pm weekdays at the West Entrance of the HS that is located on Phelps Lane. All families in need of these meals are more than welcome to take advantage of this service and come get meals for their family.

Additionally, beginning Thursday March 19th between 10am and 12pm weekdays we will be offering non-perishable groceries for home to our community through Island Harvest at the entrance of the high school under the “W” facing Deer Park Avenue. Please note, that supplies could be limited due to availability of supplies from Island Harvest. We will distribute everything we have.

Thank you and have a good evening.
