To reward its students for participating in the New York State assessments, the Robert Moses Middle School in North Babylon hosted an assembly program with Steel Impressions, a family steel band based in Amityville. During the program, “Recycle, Reused, the Creation of the Steel Pan,” the students learned about the history behind the development of the steel pan and how the steel pan is created out of a 55-gallon oil barrel. They also enjoyed a concert showcasing the versatility of the instrument.
